Sleeping Princess

So much for a photo a day. Maybe a photo a fortnight is a bit more realistic. Anyway, this is how the birthday girl fell asleep at lunchtime today! Now to figure out how to get the wings off without waking her.....

Photos

I've decided to challenge myself to one of those "photo a day" thingos. I have a great camera that I hardly know how to use so I'm hoping it will force me to spend some quality time with Mr Canon that I would otherwise fritter away on housework and other meaningless tasks.

It probably won't end up being one photo every day, but at least it's something to aim for. Today's pic is embarrassingly twee.... flowers with raindrops. I wanted to get something a bit less done to death, but the camera battery went dead, so there you go. I might include one I took of JJ the other day. Not technically "today's photo" but I like it :)

A bit of blue...

I'm loving the colours in this little number. Should really have used the macro lens but hey, whatever. It's double thickness Treliske organic merino which makes a lovely thick and spongy fabric. I wasn't so sure about the colours when I dyed it, but with the white trim I really like it. I think the star needs a bit of blue trim to balance but can't really make up my mind. Not good at decisions!

I scream, you scream, we all scream....

Yummmm I'm getting back into icecream and sorbet making. It's so much fun to make something you can eat! Pictured is the lemon and rasberry sorbet I made the other day - man that stuff is GOOD!! I'm experimenting with the recipe to see if I can get it to melt a little more slowly (you can see the puddle in the bottom of the bowl - it melts really fast). Next sorbet will have 1/4 tsp of Guar Gum added - we'll see if that helps.

Isn't she cute? I made DD this doll for Christmas. The pattern was from sarahs-dolls.com and it was pretty easy to follow. Just ignore the cellulite on her legs! I washed some fleece for the stuffing and I must have over handled it! I've bought some wool stuffing that I don't have to wash, so the next doll should be cellulite - free. J says I should add some varicose veins with biro to make her even more lifelike....... Hmmmmm.
